Adele (full name: Adele Laurie Blue Adkins) is a famous British singer that stormed the world with her 2008 debut album. She grabbed two Grammy Awards and rose to become a leading pop singer in the UK and around the world. She was born Adele Adkins but performs with her first name alone. Adele was raised in London and she grew up trying to be like the spice girls at home. She began singing at the age of 14 and after posting several songs to, she was discovered by XL Recordings in 2006. In 2008 Adele released her debut album with hits like “Hometown Glory” and “Chasing Pavements” which won her two Grammy awards as the best new artist and best female pop vocal performance.

Adele is widely renowned for her smoky voice and her plus-sized body. She is known to push out power ballads and mind-blowing pop whenever she hits the studio. Her voice is too good that Journalist Paul Rees once told the BBC that Adele’s voice “could stop traffic.”

Adele released her second album in 2011 and it was debuted at #1 on the UK music charts. Her album stayed on the chart for a record-breaking 10 straight weeks with over 4.5 million copies sold in the UK alone. The album featured the acclaimed heartbreak-of-romance single “Someone Like You” that was one of her biggest hit. She even performed the song at the BRIT awards in February 2011.

She later had surgery on her vocal cords later that year but returned to the limelight to perform her hit song “Rolling in the Deep” at the Grammy Award in 2012. She won all the six Grammys which she was nominated for that year which was one of her best years of her blazing musical career. She also sang the theme song for the 2012 James Bond movie “Sky Fall” and earned an Oscar nomination for the best original song. She has made her mark in the UK music scene and can be regarded as one of the greatest musical export from the UK.

Elton John

Another prolific songwriter and flamboyant performer from the UK. Elton John shook the world with over 30 different hits on the top 40 charts between 1970 and 1982. He is one of the greatest musical performers with super-theatrical stage appearances where he uses different amazing costumes and glittering spectacles to wow his audience. He rose to become a mega superstar and headlined musical events all around Europe in his prime. Some of his hit songs include “Your Song,” “Rocket Man,” “Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road,” and “Bennie and the Jets” which were written by him and his long-time lyricist Bernie Taupin.

John was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997. He has continued to perform widely even in the 21st century and has gone on several long tours with fellow pop stars of the 70s. he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and stands as one of the greatest pop stars from Europe.
